Savage: the battle for newerth is the bastard love child of a FPS and a RPG and RTS. Confused? prolly, but let me give you a quick sum up.

You as a player can join one of two teams where you venture forth from your base to kill the other team and eventualy beat down their base to win. You can do the first person or third person view and you can opt to either beat someone to death with your melee weapons or open fire with you ranged weapon.

Now, 1 person from each team gets to do the RTS overhead view where they make buildings and research tech so you can put down the bow and arrow and pick up the plasma cannon to pwn face.

This here is a link View it! where you can see the difference between what the commander sees when he gives an order and what the player sees. (you have the option to ignore any command given to you by a commander)

As you run around killing things, either NPCs or players you gain exp and can work up your levels (each round resets your level to 0 so everyone starts fair) and gain a bonus for each level up to level 10. After which every level is just for show. This gives the game a little RPG feel to it.

Since they came out with Savage2 the first one is now being given away for free Very Happy

Battles have a time limit of 59 min where once it hits 0 the team who has done the most damage wins, UNLESS player majority places a vote in game to extend the game 15 min per vote. a 60 person battle I was once in managed to last to be a 3 hour bloodbath since neither team could overpower the other at the chokepoint. Orgasmic.

Since posting this I realized that the link I had for the downlaod section was not the best spot to get the game. Between needing Bittorrent, enterings 000000000000000000 or ** NO___KEY ** for the CD key then patching and a fwe simple MODs to smooth the game play.... IT was a pain in the ass.

So, I found a better spot to download it.

It's an all in one installer. Just download, extract, click silberback2.exe and WHAM! you're already patched, CD-key'd plus it has more mods then you'll need installed to make the game so much more pretty and take care of any bugs.

I changed the link above to downlaod for the better spot, but I'll post it here too. Download Windows or Linux
